Getting there:
- Coming from Lisbon (approx. 80kms) follow the A8 northwards. Just before Caldas da Rainha take the slip road at Junction 13/14 to the IP6 and follow this to Peniche. The Botado Golf course is signposted from there.
- From the North travel along the A1 to Leiria, then take the A8 south and follow directions to Obidos. The IP6 junction 13/14 is the first after the exit to Obidos. Follow this to Peniche where Botado golf course is singposted.
Botado golf course runs parallel to the dunes of Consolação Beach near Peniche on Portugal's Silver Coast, a location of natural beauty that has been transformed into an appealing nine hole course. A links-style course, Botado Golf features six lakes and big bunkers that make for a challenging short game, especially as the juniper forest through which it runs is a preservation area. Balls lost in that section of Botado Golf Course can be considered lost.
Sand hazards
A variety of sand hazards are on offer at Botado Golf to challenge players and these, along with the ever present threat of water, make for a game that requires concentration and skill. Plans are being considered for the construction of a second nine holes to expand Silver Coast golf facilities. As it stands, however, Botado golf course offers different setting off tees on each of its holes to allow a second round, different from the first, to be played.
